This piece is made up of two canvases, each 36 x 12 in size. The right canvas was painted first. The left canvas was created by placing it on top of the right canvas while the it was still wet; allowing some of the paint to transfer. The right side is much more calm, consolidated, and pleasing to the eye, only depicting parts of the left side that were able to transfer. The right side of the painting is much more full, complex, and intense. This piece is titled instagram vs reality, after the instagram trend/meme, to demonstrate the relationship between performance/online identity and authenticity/ offline identity.
